Chunky Post Pool Fence Tubular And Glass Yarrambat

These chunky posts work well with large properties like this one in Yarrambat. The chunky posts also make a great interface between different types of fencing in this case glass and tubular. Frameless glass is used on the lower area around the alfresco and flattop tubular pool fencing on the upper area.

Pool Fencing for Sloped Blocks

Achieving a safe pool and a great look can be tricky when the ground is flat, but what about when you need sloped pool fencing for a raked or sloped block? Here are the alternatives …

Pool-Legal Bird WireRaked-Wire-Pool-Fencing / Aviary WireAviary-Wire-Pool-Legal-Fence

Pool-legal wire mesh pool fencing allows a good view through the fence while achieving safety all at a cost below most other options. The secret is that the area between the posts is bird wire or aviary wire which provides minimal obstruction to the view, but importantly can be cut to match any slope.

Options for aviary wire fencing include steel (see above) and black (see below) so you can match it to the look you are after. Generally, we find that black disappears more into open environments.

Big Johns Pool Fencing has also enclosed whole backyards using aviary wire fencing. This can change your whole pool and garden feeling. Call to discuss if this is suitable for you (0412 411 209).

The next simplest is steel fencing welded and raked to the slope. This costs more for than wire pool fencing, but has been popular over the years, so is reasonably common.

Glass Pool Fencing

Glass always gives a beautiful look, and in some cases, will still be he best choice depending on the site. But for most people and larger fences, glass pool fencing looses out to wire or steel because of price and practicality. Unfortunately, sloped pool fencing in glass quickly becomes expensive even though some installations can be achieved with clever use of frameless glass.

Sloped Pool Fencing the Winner is …

Mixing your fencing is a great way to keep the cost down while achieving a great look. Glass looks great with other fencing types when done right, so don’t be afraid of including a slope if it will give you the best outcome in terms of enjoying your pool and space over the years.

Mt Dandenong Aviary Wire Pool Fence Solution

Following a recommendation, a new customer contacted us for installation of a tubular pool fence. When I went out to Mount Dandenong to measure and quote, I realized that a tubular pool fence may not be the best solution. During the measure, I discussed the idea of an aviary wire pool fence as an alternative.Raked-Wire-Pool-Fencing

In The Dandenongs
With a beautifully treed property in the the Dandenongs, the owner was keen to put in a fence which was in keeping with the surroundings. Tubular fencing works well, but aviary wire fencing can be made pool legal. The advantage is that it tends to disappear at a distance. The owner was not aware of aviary wire pool fencing as an option, but once I showed him a photo, he was convinced.

I quoted the job and the cost for pool-legal aviary/bird wire fencing came in cheaper than tubular in this case. The owner decided to go ahead with our quote. Aviary wire fencing is great on slopes because it is easy to cut it to size where as tubular can be more challenging (see article – Pool Fencing for Sloped Blocks). The wire fencing comes in different colours so it is possible to match it for the job.

Aviary Wire Pool Fence Installation:
The Dandenong ranges can be quite wet, and this delayed the installation a little, but eventually the team got a run of good days and the owner was very happy with the result.

The Result
As well as being great for sloping properties, aviary wire pool fencing has some advantages including the reduced need for painting, reduced installation cost on sloping blocks and a good solution where the owner wants to include a larger area like a garden zone within the pool area.

Black aviary wire pool fencing is now available. Depending on the surrounds, I find that the black blends in really well to some landscapes.

We install all types of pool fencing. Call Big John’s on 0412 411 209 for an over-the-phone estimation.

Black Wire Pool Fencing – Mt Dandenong

The good thing about being at the top of a mountain is that no one can look down on you.  This is even better when you are relaxing in a pool.  We recently completed this black wire pool fence in the Dandenong Ranges.  We popped back in October to take some photos with the pool landscaping complete and the owner told us that they were already enjoying the pool and the views are all sky and trees.

Clearly a good pool cover and efficient pool heater help to enjoy the shoulder seasons.  On top of the mountain is the place to be.

Black wire pool fencing allows great views from the swimming pool and of the swimming pool from much of the garden. As you can see from the photos, visibility is excellent even from below the pool.

Wire fencing is great for visibility especially where there is a backdrop of green like bushes and trees.

As we install more and more wire pool fences, I have noticed that there are lots of Melbourne houses with a treed fence line and a large area to enclose.  Aviary wire pool fencing works so well for these.

Even sky comes through well so black wire mesh pool fencing works really well as an alternative to glass pool fencing as you can see from the photos.  Although the photo below doesn’t do justice to the pool area, you can see a double layer of the wire mesh fence still letting through the light and view.  It is only on angle that the fence starts to become dark.

Enjoying the fantastic seclusion and views of the Dandenongs, this pool with black wire pool fencing has it all.

From in the pool, no one can see you but you can see the trees right around.

See Through Pool Fence Installation-Templestowe

This Templestowe property features a large deck with great views across Melbourne.  A see through pool fence was needed because two long fence runs are installed parallel to the pool.  With fully-frameless glass installed directly into a channel under the deck, you can see through the pool from the house and entertaining area. The view is maintained and the feeling of space on the large deck is fantastic.

Our alignment guarantee means perfectly aligned glass.

In the photos, you may like to notice different aspects of this fence.

  • A glass see through pool fence works well even with two fences and an extra layer of glass if you consider the house windows.
  • This fence is installed in a channel underneath the deck for a fully see-through and seamless look.
  • The privacy fences really make a huge difference with this pool, you barely notice the neighbours (who are lovely by the way, we installed their fence also).
  • Our alignment guarantee means perfectly aligned glass.  Coupled with our glass guarantee against breakage, this gives owners peace of mind.
  • Sometimes building requirements have special requirements this is achieved with a slimline stainless handrail in this case.

Frameless Glass Courtyard Pool Fence Essendon

Essendon Pool Fence & Courtyard
This neat house located between Strathmore and Essendon had a small space to maximize.  The pool is installed nestled between the garage and boundary fences.  The elevated paving maximized the flat area and Big Johns installed a frameless glass pool fence and pump surround.

Because of the elevation, the customer wanted unobtrusive look so only frameless would do with stainless steel mini spiggots.  Stainless steel gives a very clean look and tend to blend in by reflecting the colours around.

To comply with regulations, the roller doors were bolted shut so no fence was needed along the wall.

The pool has a nice stacked stone water feature at the rear with a lovely established garden along the side fence-line. Both are clearly visible from the house because the frameless glass fencing leaves a clear view through.

Pump equipment is hidden by a brushwood tea-tree panel and gate this not only bends in with the area aesthetically but it is quite good as a sound barrier for the pumps.

Our owners are always lovely people, this lady had recently had a knee operation and was hobbling around offering us drinks.  We didn’t disturb her too long and with her new fence installed, she can now enjoy her pool for the summer.

If you have a small courtyard near Essendon or a large property on the outskirts of Melbourne, call Big Johns on 0412 411 209 for all your pool fence, pump surround, balustrade and frameless glass fencing needs.
